Glass Bottom Games’ skateboarding game Skatebird is coming to the Nintendo Switch in late 2020, according to an announcement during Nintendo’s Indie World event. The developer launched a Kickstarter for Skatebird on June 11, 2019, and it was fully funded only a day later. Players will control colorful skateboarding birds in “bird-sized parks” made of bendy straws, staplers, cardboard, and sticky tape. Nintendo announced during its Indie World livestream that Axiom Verge 2 is officially happening. During its December State of Play, Sony announced the battle royale game, Spellbreak, is coming to PlayStation 4. From developer Proletariat Inc., Spellbreak takes the traditional battle royale genre and adds magic. In the State of Play trailer, a group of three players lands in front of a castle and square off against another team. Exclusive to the Epic store, players can buy into the game to start playing now with the founders edition. The beta for Spellbreak hits PS4 in spring 2020.

New gameplay footage for Japanese studio PlatinumGames’ Babylon’s Fall was showcased during Sony’s State of Play presentation on Dec. 10. PlatinumGames said there’ll be more information on Babylon’s Fall “next summer.” There are a bunch of knights fighting in the new Babylon’s Fall trailer — some of which are very large — with “spectral swords.” Like Nier: Automata before it, Babylon’s Fall will be published by Square Enix.
